Nigerian social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has shared alarming details about his physical confrontation with media personality Freedom Atsepoyi, widely called Mr Jollof, during a commercial flight.
The In-Flight Confrontation That Turned Violent
According to VDM's lengthy Instagram post, he approached Mr Jollof inside the aircraft to discuss their unresolved issues. However, the conversation never happened as the situation quickly escalated into violence.
VDM claims Mr Jollof attacked him first without any warning, throwing the first punch before he could even begin speaking. The social activist insisted he had no opportunity to de-escalate the situation or walk away from the confrontation.
VDM's Account of the Physical Altercation
The fight intensified within seconds, with VDM realizing this was more than a simple scuffle. In his own words, he wrote: "Jollof would have kpai me if I didn't defend myself."
During the exchange, VDM revealed that Mr Jollof bit him, leaving a painful mark and nearly damaging his tattoo. This unexpected turn of events highlighted the seriousness of the physical altercation.
Airlines Response and Consequences
United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) confirmed the incident in an official statement released on Monday, November 17. The airline noted that the altercation occurred during the boarding of Flight UN0523 at Asaba International Airport.
Both men were immediately handed over to airport security for questioning and further action. While UNA refrained from providing additional details, the airline reassured passengers and the public of its commitment to maintaining safety and professionalism on all flights.
