In a spectacular display of festive cheer, the leading malt drink brand, Maltina, has officially ushered in the holiday season with a breathtaking Christmas Light-Up event held simultaneously in Nigeria's capital, Abuja, and its commercial hub, Lagos.
A Night of Illumination and Community Spirit
The dual-city ceremony, which took place on Sunday, November 30, 2025, formed a key part of Nigerian Breweries Plc's broader Legendary Christmas campaign. The events transformed major city districts into vibrant wonderlands, drawing crowds of excited residents, government officials, company executives, and social media influencers for an evening dedicated to joy and togetherness.
In Lagos, the festivities centered on Obafemi Awolowo Way, with the official unveiling point at the Allianz Media Garden. The atmosphere was electrified by cultural performers and the presence of Maltina's Brand Ambassador, Tomike Adeoye, and popular lifestyle influencer, Priscilla Ojo.
The Abuja event unfolded along Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent in Wuse, with the main activation at the Layback space near NICON Junction. The ceremony saw a high-profile gathering for the symbolic switching on of the lights.
Dignitaries and Executives Unite for the Switch-On
The moment of illumination in Abuja was a collective effort led by several dignitaries. They included representatives from the Federal Capital Territory Social Development Secretariat and the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council. Also present were the Director of the Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage (DOAS), Amb. Dr. Fatima Amanabo, and officials from the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP).
From Nigerian Breweries Plc, the event was graced by top leadership, including the Managing Director, Thibaut Boidin; Board Member, Adeyinka Aroyewun; and Marketing Director, Sarah Agha. A representative of the Honorable Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture also joined the pivotal moment.
Following the switch-on, which was accentuated by confetti, pyro effects, and rich cultural performances, guests in both cities enjoyed a tour of the radiant installations and branded routes, fully immersing themselves in the Maltina Christmas glow.
Spreading Light from the Heart of Nigeria's Story
Speaking at the Lagos event, Nigerian Breweries Plc Managing Director, Thibaut Boidin, explained the profound significance of launching the campaign in the city. He reflected on the deep historical connection, noting that both Nigerian Breweries and the Maltina brand were born in Lagos in 1946.
"This season, we asked ourselves a simple question: what better way to celebrate a legendary Christmas than by lighting up Lagos? Starting here felt right," Boidin stated. "We want to spread light, joy, and a true sense of celebration across the country we all love."
The initiative serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of connection and happiness, even during challenging times. Maltina has confirmed that the festive spirit is set to spread further, with Ibadan announced as the next city to join the nationwide glow, continuing the brand's mission to foster togetherness across Nigeria during the holiday season.
