Over 2000 Lugbe Residents Receive Aid at Gratitude Outreach 5.0 Event
2000+ Benefit from Gratitude Outreach in Lugbe

More than two thousand individuals from Lugbe and neighbouring areas have received vital assistance during the fifth edition of the Gratitude Outreach program. The event, which took place at Salem Academy in Lugbe, provided essential food items, household supplies, and compassionate support to vulnerable groups facing economic hardship.

A Far-Reaching Impact Across Multiple Communities

The outreach successfully served beneficiaries from a wide range of informal settlements around the Federal Capital Territory axis. Residents came from Tudun Wada, High Tension, FHA Lugbe, Kapwa Village, Pyakasa, Pipeline, and Lugbe Across, marking this edition as one of the most extensive in the initiative's history. The gathering included widows, single mothers, children, the elderly, persons living with disabilities, and low-income households.

The atmosphere at the venue was charged with emotion as volunteers personally engaged with attendees, offering words of encouragement and listening to their concerns. Beyond the material donations of food packs, clothing, and children's essentials, the event was distinguished by the human connection and dignity extended to every beneficiary.

Leadership Commitment and Community Testimonies

Speaking at the event, the convener, Pastor Ifejola Opara, shared her profound joy at the impact achieved and reaffirmed her long-term dedication to the cause. She emphasized that the outreach is a sustained mission, not a one-time activity.

"This is not a one-off event; it is my heart's desire to keep doing this for as long as God enables me," Pastor Opara stated. "It's been five years in the making, and by God's grace, I want to keep going. If there is breath in my lungs, I want to spend it helping people, restoring dignity, and bringing joy to families who need it the most."

Her message resonated powerfully with the crowd, many of whom highlighted the critical timing of the support amid current economic pressures. A mother from Pyakasa shared, "Things have been very hard. I didn't know how I would feed my children this week. Today, I'm going home with food, clothes, and peace. I feel seen." An elderly beneficiary from Tudun Wada added, "It is not just the items; it is the love behind it. They treated us with respect. I am grateful."

A Growing Movement of Compassion

Now in its fifth year, the Gratitude Outreach, which is an initiative of the Cause a Smile Initiative, has evolved into a significant community movement. It focuses on strengthening social bonds and helping families navigate periods of difficulty with both practical aid and empathy. The consistent expansion into more neighbourhoods around Lugbe underscores the growing need for such interventions and the reliable commitment of its organisers.

The event, held on December 6, 2025, stands as a testament to how targeted community support can alleviate immediate burdens and foster a sense of collective hope during challenging times.
