Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has revealed that billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote drove his mother home from the hospital after his birth, describing a relationship that spans decades and includes ongoing financial guidance.

During an interview on the Earn Your Leisure podcast, Davido discussed his family's long-standing connection with Dangote, the founder of the Dangote Group. He said the billionaire was the person who drove his mother home from the hospital after she gave birth to him, highlighting the closeness between the two families.
“Aliko Dangote drove my mom home from the hospital when she gave birth to me,” Davido said. He described Dangote as someone who has been close to his family for decades, noting that the relationship dates back to the day he was born.
Dangote's repeated advice: 'Save your money'
Davido said Dangote has consistently advised him to be disciplined with money since childhood. The singer recalled that whenever they meet, the billionaire repeats the same counsel.
“Anytime I see him, he still tells me, ‘David, save your money.’ He’s been saying that since I was a baby,” Davido said. The Afrobeats star also described billionaires as ordinary people despite their wealth, saying their lifestyles often differ from the lavish image many associate with extremely wealthy individuals.
“Billionaires are the most normal people,” he said.
