Desperate Mother of Five Pleads for Assistance After Husband's Abandonment

A Nigerian mother is facing extreme hardship after her husband abandoned her at the hospital when she gave birth to twins, leaving her to care for five children with no means of support.

The heartbreaking situation came to light through TikTok user @singledemon1236, who initially helped the woman clear her medical bills after discovering her plight. According to the Good Samaritan, the new mother now faces an even greater challenge at home with her expanding family.

The Tragic Details of the Abandonment

The woman originally had seven children, but tragically lost two while her husband was still with the family. Following the birth of the twins, which brought her total number of children to five, her husband completely disappeared from their lives.

In an emotional video appeal, the mother confirmed in Yoruba that her husband abandoned her at the hospital after she delivered the twins. She revealed the devastating reality that she hasn't had a proper meal in days, while her two-month-old twins and three other children suffer alongside her.

The TikTok user who has been assisting her wrote: "She was abandoned by her husband when she gave birth to twins. I assisted her with the medical fee. Now she's back home and I have been trying my best for her and her remaining 3 kids. Still, I can't do it alone. The twins are just 2 months old. The mother of the kids hardly eats, and the kids' medications are almost finished."

Growing Desperation and Public Response

The situation has sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians online. While many expressed sympathy for the mother's plight, others questioned the decision to have more children given the family's financial constraints.

One commenter, @Dbozz couture, noted: "Did you notice the rich don't born too much, as young as you are, you get mind born 7 children. You'll just bring to the world kids you cannot cater for and start suffering."

Another user, Oluwaseyi1806, questioned: "4 kids and una know say money no Dey ground - is it a must to have another kids again?"

Despite the criticism, the mother's immediate need for assistance remains urgent. The twins are now two months old and require ongoing care, medication, and proper nutrition that their mother cannot provide without help.

This case highlights a broader pattern of similar abandonments in Nigeria. In a related incident, Legit.ng reported that a bricklayer fled a hospital in Igbokoda, Ondo state, after his wife delivered triplets, leaving the new mother and babies stranded.
