On World Jollof Day 2026, Knorr took its celebration beyond dining tables and into the streets of Lagos and Abuja with the #TurnUpForJollof campaign, distributing complimentary Jollof Food Boxes to unsuspecting commuters, drivers, and passersby at traffic stops and busy locations.
Surprise Giveaways at Traffic Hotspots
The campaign targeted specific groups to add a unique flair to the celebration. Recipients included drivers of green cars, female drivers, parents travelling with children, and people wearing green attire. These surprise moments transformed routine commutes into hubs of excitement, turning potential traffic delays into opportunities for shared meals and delight.
Key locations in Lagos included Surulere, Yaba, Ikeja, and Lekki, while the celebration extended to Kubwa in Abuja. Glovo riders played a crucial role in delivering the Knorr Jollof Food Boxes directly to recipients at various traffic hotspots, ensuring the special Jollof experience reached people exactly where they were.
Creators Add Energy to the Campaign
The campaign was further elevated by the presence of creators and collaborators Chef Dee, Diary Of A Kitchen Lover, and Simi Drey. Their interactions with the public at busy hotspots and traffic stops brought smiles to faces and sparked lively celebrations of food, culture, and community.
Speaking on the campaign, Damilola Dania, Foods Demand Creation Lead at Unilever Nigeria Plc, said, “Jollof goes beyond a beloved dish for Nigerians. At Knorr, we believe it is also about the culture, joy and connections that happen around it. This year’s World Jollof Day allowed us to take that belief to the streets and celebrate the goodness of Jollof with the people in a truly memorable way.”
Jollof as a Unifying Force
Dania added, “We wanted to create unexpected moments of joy in the hustle and bustle of living, and seeing the excitement from commuters, families, drivers and everyone who joined in reminded us of just how powerful food can be in sharing joy and bringing people together.”
Jollof Rice holds a special place in Nigerian cuisine, being a staple at family tables, wedding parties, and special gatherings. The #TurnUpForJollof campaign aimed to celebrate not just the dish but the people, culture, and shared experiences that make it special.
This World Jollof Day, Knorr’s initiative brought a little more joy to everyday moments across Lagos and Abuja, giving Nigerians more reasons to #TurnUpForJollof. The campaign underscored the role of food in fostering connection and community, leaving a lasting impression on those who participated.
