"Twenty years ago! My abuser and his wife looked into my eyes after flogging me naked in their sitting room, and said that I will never amount to anything in life. That poverty dwells in our lineage. Did I give up in life? No," Uzowulu wrote with defiant clarity. Her words echo the determination that carried her through those dark times and into a brighter future.
