Remembering Tope Osoba’s Battle With Breast Cancer
Tope Osoba passed away in early August 2026 at the age of 40. She had publicly shared her breast cancer diagnosis approximately two years before her death and actively sought support for treatment and surgery. In August 2025, she declared her recovery, describing the preceding months as a season of healing, rebranding, and personal growth, and expressing excitement about returning to acting.
The circumstances surrounding her death have remained contentious, with her fiancé and family members offering conflicting accounts. Actor Yomi Fabiyi called for a formal investigation and an autopsy to determine the exact cause of her passing.
Family Statement and Ongoing Disputes
Following these disputes, the family issued a statement cautioning the public and media against spreading unverified claims. They requested that all information be sourced exclusively through the family’s official channels.
In a related development, Legit.ng reported that actress Basira Badia publicly confronted Tope Osoba’s cleric husband after an interview in which he spoke about the deceased actress. Badia challenged his claim that Tope gave him only N1.2 million, indicating she was prepared to trace bank statements to establish what transpired. She also raised questions about Tope’s miscarriage in May, alleging a possible connection between the pregnancy loss and her cancer medication, as well as a doctor’s reported warning about potential risks.
