2Baba Sets Record Straight: Faze Not Involved in Blackface Beef
2Baba: Faze Not Involved in Blackface Feud

Award-winning Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2Face, has publicly addressed the long-standing rift with his former bandmate, Blackface, making it clear that the third member of the legendary Plantashun Boiz, Faze, is not a party to their dispute.

On-Stage Clarification at Made in Benue Festival

The revelation came during 2Baba's performance at the Made in Benue Festival in Makurdi on December 29, 2025. Addressing the crowd, the 'African Queen' crooner explained the situation while sharing the stage with Faze. He stated that despite the unresolved personal issues between him and Blackface, Faze has maintained a neutral and cordial relationship with both parties.

"You all know that Plantashun Boiz consisted of Blackface, 2Face and Faze. But due to some unforeseen circumstances, Blackface is not with us right now," 2Baba told the audience. He went further to emphatically separate Faze from the conflict: "However, no matter the beef wey me and Blackface get, nothing concerns Faze inside. So, Faze is right here with me, and we will represent Plantashun Boiz."

The Lingering Plantashun Boiz Feud

The feud between 2Baba and Blackface, whose real name is Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, has been a prominent subplot in Nigeria's entertainment scene for years. It traces its roots back to the disbandment of the iconic trio, Plantashun Boiz, in the 2000s. Following the split, Blackface has repeatedly accused 2Baba of intellectual property theft, particularly regarding the hit song 'African Queen', allegations which 2Baba has consistently denied.

Over the years, several attempts at reconciliation have been made, but the relationship has remained strained. 2Baba's latest comments, however, indicate a conscious effort to separate the group's shared musical legacy from their personal disagreements, using Faze's on-stage presence as a symbol of that enduring legacy.

Fan Reactions and Hopes for Peace

The public clarification sparked a wave of reactions from fans and followers on social media, with many expressing a mix of nostalgia and hope for reconciliation.

One user, @RealMoses17, commented on the longevity of the dispute, saying, "So una never settle this over how many years ago." Another, @TaeyangMedia, praised Faze's stance: "I just like that Faze guy, he didn't involve himself in the feud between 2Face and Black Face."

The sentiment for peace was strong, with @erickson_egbon asking, "Can they just forgive each other and be friends again?" Others, like @DanielG4G, commended 2Baba's handling of the situation: "2Baba always classy — quarrels don't steal the show." The moment also stirred nostalgia for the complete trio, as noted by @inis_heritage: "I wish Blackface was there to complete the trio."

This public address follows another recent personal revelation from the veteran singer. On December 23, 2025, during a live session on MC Edo Pikin's 'Undiluted' show, 2Baba declared he had reformed from his past ways, stating he had stopped "giving women belle anyhow." He emphasized this was a genuine correction of misconceptions about his personal life and not meant for entertainment, adding that he and his wife, Annie Macaulay-Idibia, have moved past engaging in public drama.
