The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, recently shared a personal testimony about his son's remarkable rise to success in the United States. In a video that has gone viral on social media, Adeboye recounted how his son initially worked at a restaurant after moving abroad but eventually became a successful business owner.
From Employee to Entrepreneur
According to Pastor Adeboye, his son invited him to bless the restaurant he had acquired. After praying over the business, it experienced significant growth. The highlight of the story came when Adeboye revealed that his son later hired his former employer as a manager in the same establishment.
"I have a son in the USA. When he got there, he started working at a restaurant, and after some time, he got a restaurant of his own. He then invited me to bless the place. I went there and prayed for him, and he began to prosper. He needed a manager, and the man who was once his boss became the one he later employed," Adeboye said.
Prayer and Decree
The cleric concluded the story with a decree that those who left others behind will come to serve under them. This prayer also sparked reactions from many Nigerian netizens, who took to social media to share their thoughts.
Mixed Reactions Online
Several netizens criticized the Nigerian Christian leader for his testimony. Some questioned why his son had to work under someone in the US when Adeboye himself is a billionaire. Others felt the story suggested that one person's success comes at the expense of another.
One user commented, "So Una son works under someone in the USA wey you be billionaire." Another added, "I fail to see why his testimonies always suggest that one person's success comes at the expense of another. If a business succeeds, fine celebrate that."
However, some defended the pastor, noting that his son's hard work and prayer contributed to his success. It remains unclear whether Adeboye was referring to his biological son or a spiritual son.
Background Context
This is not the first time Pastor Adeboye has shared inspiring stories. He recently visited a church in Ogun state for a thanksgiving service, where he walked to the pulpit with support from his son, Leke Adeboye. The event drew attention when he appeared to bow slightly, which many linked to honouring church tradition.
Pastor Adeboye continues to be a prominent figure in Nigeria's religious landscape, with his teachings and testimonies often sparking discussions online.
