Azuka Moweta Unveils New Album Kenechukwu with Rich Ekobe and Highlife Fusion
Renowned Ekobe music exponent Azuka Moweta has officially released his latest album titled Kenechukwu, marking a significant milestone in his musical career. This new project arrives approximately one year after the successful launch of Ekobe Global, which garnered widespread acclaim among enthusiasts of African sounds worldwide.
A Seven-Track Masterpiece of Musical Innovation
The album Kenechukwu comprises seven tracks that seamlessly blend the distinctive Ekobe Asaba sound with traditional highlife rhythms. Key songs include the title track Kenechukwu, Izunwanne ka, Odogwu Ahaba, and Onye zusia, the latter serving as a heartfelt tribute to the legendary trumpeter Zeal Onyia. Additional tracks such as Ndi Di Mma, Ogalanya sound system, an instrumental piece, and Nyem Nkem further enrich the album's diverse musical landscape.
Beyond honoring Zeal Onyia, Moweta extends his gratitude to other notable figures, including the Asagba of Asaba, HRM Epiphany Azinge, and the late Chief Obi Nwanze Oduah, also known as Odogwu Ahaba. This thematic focus positions Kenechukwu as an album of profound appreciation to God and a celebration of influential individuals who have shaped his journey.
Production Excellence and Artistic Vision
Executive producers Odogwu Entertainment and Palenque Records have meticulously crafted this album, aiming to deliver what many anticipate as the standout sound of the year. The production is designed to resonate deeply with listeners while invigorating the dancehall spirit within the diaspora community.
Nnamdi Moweta, founder and head of Odogwu Entertainment—known for producing Osita Osadebe's groundbreaking Kedu America album—praised Azuka's dedication, stating, "Azuka has worked tirelessly since the release of his last album to bring this new body of work to life. For the first time, Ekobe music by Azuka Moweta incorporates a brass section of horns, creating a vintage feel that promises to make a substantial social impact."
Kenechukwu Ibedu, Creative Director at Odogwu Entertainment, who oversaw production and served as the Artiste & Repertoire (A&R), described the album as a masterpiece. "We are yet to witness the full potential of Azuka Moweta," he remarked, highlighting the album's artistic significance.
Technical Details and Global Availability
The album was executive produced by Nnamdi Moweta, Kenechukwu Ibedu, and Lucas Silva, with studio engineering handled by Ijele Amichi. Recorded in Anambra State, Nigeria, Kenechukwu is now streaming on all major music platforms worldwide, ensuring broad accessibility for fans across the globe.
DJ Captain Plannet, who has already created a dynamic remix of Izunwanne Ka for dancehall audiences, emphasized the album's infectious energy, noting that the true essence of Azuka Moweta and His Anioma Brothers Band of Africa's creation is best experienced through movement on the dance floor.
