Davido Honors Late Son Ifeanyi and Mother in Concert

Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, moved audiences to tears during his recent Atlanta concert as he paid emotional tribute to his late son Ifeanyi and his deceased mother Veronica Imade Adeleke.

Heartfelt Moment on Stage

The Afrobeats superstar created a poignant moment during his 33rd birthday celebration show in Atlanta when he appeared on stage wearing a special jacket featuring photographs of his family members. The customized blazer prominently displayed images of his late son Ifeanyi and his mother Veronica, who passed away in 2003.

During the emotional performance, Davido directly addressed his son, saying "I love you, son. Tell my mom, Daddy is a superstar down here." The touching message resonated deeply with the audience, many of whom were visibly moved by the singer's raw display of emotion.

Remembering His Mother's Legacy

Veronica Adeleke, Davido's mother, died at the age of 40 in 2003. The singer has consistently honored her memory through various philanthropic efforts. Most recently, he opened a hostel in Abia State dedicated to her memory, describing her as "a teacher, giver, and believer in the power of knowledge and compassion to alter people's lives."

In statements to Vogue magazine, Davido explained that the hostel was intended not only for his mother but for all young Africans pursuing their dreams and aspirations.

Continuing to Honor Ifeanyi's Memory

The tragedy of Ifeanyi Adeleke's death occurred on Monday, October 31, 2022, just days after the toddler's third birthday. The young boy reportedly drowned in his father's swimming pool before being rushed to a prominent Lagos hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Davido and his wife Chioma have found ways to keep Ifeanyi's memory alive. During his white wedding ceremony, Davido wore a cufflink featuring a portrait of his late son, explaining that this was meant to keep Ifeanyi close to their hearts on their special day.

In a heartbreaking interview with CNN last year, Davido broke down in tears while discussing his son's death, acknowledging that the grieving process significantly influenced his album "Timeless" as it forced him to reflect deeply on his loss.

The couple has recently welcomed twins, a boy and a girl, in the same month that their son Ifeanyi passed away. Davido has expressed that he and Chioma believe their late son has returned to them through their twin boy, noting the strong physical resemblance between the children.

Davido's tribute during the Atlanta concert demonstrates the ongoing healing journey for the superstar and his family as they continue to honor the memories of their loved ones while moving forward with their lives and careers.
