D'banj Reveals Don Jazzy Was 100% Responsible for Mo'Hits Split
Don Jazzy Initiated Mo'Hits Breakup, Says D'banj

In a stunning revelation that has sent ripples through the Nigerian entertainment scene, iconic singer D'banj has finally addressed the long-standing mystery behind the dissolution of the legendary Mo'Hits Records. The pop star has placed the responsibility for the 2012 split squarely on his former partner, renowned producer Don Jazzy.

The Podcast Revelation

During a candid conversation on the latest episode of the Mic On podcast, hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, D'banj provided his most transparent account yet of what truly ended one of Nigeria's most successful music partnerships. The artist stated unequivocally that Don Jazzy was "100 per cent responsible" for the decision to part ways, a move that shocked the entire Nigerian music industry when it occurred in 2012.

D'banj expressed no regrets about how events unfolded, emphasizing that he would not change anything about their relationship given that the idea to separate did not originate from him. "If I were to go back in time, I wouldn't have done anything differently regarding my relationship with Don Jazzy, especially when the idea to go our separate ways didn't come from me," D'banj explained during the podcast interview.

The Aftermath and Legacy

One of the most significant disclosures from the conversation concerned the handling of D'banj's musical catalogue after the breakup. The singer revealed that Don Jazzy handed him full ownership of his entire catalogue, including approximately ten unreleased songs. This generous gesture has contributed to maintaining their cordial relationship in the years since their professional separation.

Reflecting on their final collaboration, D'banj highlighted the global success of 'Oliver Twist,' which ironically became their last joint release. "It was a journey for me, even though he had his opinion, I knew that we needed to cement that global movement and I'm glad that even after, God still did it for us with 'Oliver Twist','' he shared with the podcast audience.

Cherished Memories and Moving Forward

While D'banj stressed that he has no regrets about the split, believing it was destined to happen, he did acknowledge one significant loss. The artist admitted that what he misses most is the magical creative process of making music together with Don Jazzy during their Mo'Hits heyday.

The separation ultimately enabled both music giants to explore individual paths and develop their unique legacies within the industry. However, D'banj made it clear that their collective impact, particularly during the Mo'Hits era, remains a cherished part of his professional journey that he will always value and celebrate.
