Global superstar Drake has made headlines by releasing three albums in a single day, a move that has left fans and industry insiders speculating about his motives. Some believe this strategy is aimed at freeing himself from his current contract with Universal Music.
Drake's Triple Album Release
On May 15, 2026, Drake dropped his highly anticipated project 'ICEMAN', along with two surprise albums: 'HABIBTI' (11 tracks) and 'MAID OF HONOUR' (14 tracks). 'ICEMAN' is his first solo album since his famous rap feud with Kendrick Lamar. Throughout 2025, the Canadian rapper teased the project via social media, concerts, and street hints in Toronto. To announce the release date, he sent fans on a treasure hunt that involved breaking through a large ice structure.
'ICEMAN' features 17 tracks, including the pre-release single 'What Did I Miss', with guest appearances from Future, Molly Santana, and 21 Savage. In the opening track 'Make Them Cry', Drake addresses his beef with Kendrick Lamar and reveals his father's battle with cancer. The album blends chest-thumping rap with pop-infused hits like 'Janice STFU', 'B's On The Table' (featuring 21 Savage), and '2 Hard For Radio'. It also marks a renewed friendship with Future after their 2024 fallout.
The album is projected to sell over 500,000 copies in its first week and debut at number one on the Billboard 200.
The Surprise Albums: 'HABIBTI' and 'MAID OF HONOUR'
'HABIBTI' includes 11 tracks with features from PARTYNEXTDOOR, Sexyy Red, Loe Shimmy, and Qendresa. 'MAID OF HONOUR' contains 14 songs with guest appearances by Central Cee, Sexyy Red, Stunna Sandy, Popcaan, and Iconic Savvy. Observers suggest these releases may be an attempt to exit his contract with Universal Music, given his strained relationship with the label. Drake has previously criticized UMG President Lucian Grainge, alleging attempts to undermine his career.
