Galatasaray's vice president, Abdullah Kavukcu, has disclosed the revenue generated by Victor Osimhen's special merchandise line, Solo il Gala. The Turkish Super League champions signed Osimhen permanently for €75 million from Napoli last summer, and the club launched the exclusive merchandise to help raise funds for the record-breaking transfer.
Osimhen's Impact at Galatasaray
Osimhen spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Galatasaray after his issues at Napoli. During that season, he scored 37 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions. His outstanding performances and influence prompted Galatasaray to pay the substantial fee to sign him permanently, beating interest from clubs like Al-Hilal. In his second season, despite being hampered by injuries, he has still managed 22 goals and eight assists in 33 matches.
Kavukcu on the Transfer Deal
Kavukcu, who also serves as the club's sporting director and negotiated the transfer, opened up about how the deal was completed. He confirmed that other clubs offered more money to both Napoli and Osimhen, but the striker chose Galatasaray. "We dreamed, and we made those dreams come true. Nobody in the world, not even people in Turkiye, believed we could sign Osimhen," Kavukcu told HT Spor via Haber Sari Kirmizi. "There was a €90 million offer from another club. Osimhen said, 'Even if they offered €100 million, I wouldn't go; I'll come to Galatasaray.'"
Osimhen's salary at Galatasaray is €21 million net per season, comprising €15 million guaranteed and the rest from image rights and loyalty bonuses. The club has devised various means to raise the funds to pay for the record-breaking deal despite financial constraints. As reported by Turkiye Today, Galatasaray will increase the price of its VIP boxes inside Rams Park next season to cover his €15 million salary for next year.
The Solo il Gala Merchandise
The club launched the special merchandise labeled "Solo il Gala," meaning "Only Gala," to commemorate the striker's first words on his flight to Istanbul to sign permanently. The box costs €220 and includes a custom jersey, scarf, special notes, and other merchandise items. Kavukcu confirmed that the club has achieved significant success with the box and will continue production, targeting €22 million from its sale.
"Solo il Gala will continue. We expect to generate approximately 22 million euros from it," he added. "We also have three advertising deals with Victor. We receive 2 million euros each from them for advertising shoots. We collected 6 million euros from this. The Osimhen transfer has added a lot to us; we have reaped the rewards of our ambition."
Osimhen's Future at the Club
Kavukcu emphasized that he is not open to selling the striker even for €150 million, despite interest from Barcelona, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich.
Victor Osimhen recently spoke after scoring twice in a win over Antalyaspor that helped Galatasaray win the title. The Super Eagles forward claimed that the difficult match and how Galatasaray won proved why they are champions, which they are all happy about.
