Gospel Singer Recalls Humiliating Car Ride That Changed His Life
Gospel Singer's Humiliating Experience With Wealthy Boss

Nigerian gospel musician Opeyemi Babalola has shared a deeply personal story about a humiliating experience with his former wealthy employer that became the turning point in his life.

The Life-Changing Incident

Babalola recently took to social media platform X to recount an event that occurred while he was working for a affluent businessman. The incident happened when he needed to complete a banking transaction for the company.

There were no company vehicles available that day, and his employer was also heading toward town. The only practical solution was for Babalola to ride along with his boss. However, what should have been a simple car journey turned into a profoundly humiliating experience.

The Humiliating Car Ride

According to Babalola's account, his employer reluctantly agreed to give him a ride but imposed a degrading condition. The wealthy man insisted that Babalola could not wear his shoes in the vehicle, fearing they would dirty the car's interior.

For the entire journey from Oba Ile to FCMB bank in Oba Adeshida, Akure, the gospel artist sat in the back seat with his shoes placed on his lap. This demeaning treatment during what should have been a routine work errand left a lasting impact on the young man.

The Emotional Aftermath and Resolution

That same night, Babalola was overcome with emotion. He cried bitterly about the incident and made two important promises to himself that would shape his future.

First, he vowed that he would not die poor, determined to achieve financial success that would prevent him from ever experiencing such humiliation again. Second, he committed to never treating other people badly, regardless of their social or economic status.

Babalola emphasized that till today, he maintains respect for everyone he encounters, irrespective of their age. The experience fundamentally shaped his character and outlook on life.

The gospel singer concluded his post with a political statement, expressing his strong disapproval of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their supporters, whom he described as terrorists.

This powerful story, originally shared on November 11, 2025, continues to resonate with many Nigerians who have faced similar experiences of class discrimination and workplace humiliation.
