Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has opened up about how his reunion with twin brother Rudeboy allegedly affected his social media growth. In a recent interview, Mr P stated that before the Psquare comeback, his online presence was thriving, with his accounts gaining up to 100,000 new followers daily.
Mr P Details Social Media Decline After Reunion
According to Mr P, he was once among the top Nigerian entertainers in terms of influence and engagement, closely trailing stars like Davido and Don Jazzy. However, after reuniting with Rudeboy, his follower growth dropped significantly. He speculated that the reunion might have been the cause, though he admitted uncertainty.
“If I do my calculations, I used to have 100k followers daily back then. After Davido, it was me and Don Jazzy leading in followers. My followers stopped growing after the reunion with my twin brother,” he said.
Fan Reactions to Mr P's Claims
The singer's remarks have triggered mixed reactions from netizens. Some fans criticized him for blaming his brother, while others defended his perspective. One user commented, “I hardly see a video of Rudeboy milking this break-up like Mr P.” Another wrote, “Your brother is way better than you, more talented, and that’s the truth. The main issue is insecurity.”
Mr P Dismisses Retirement Calls
In related news, Mr P recently addressed calls for him to retire from music after a fan suggested he was too old to perform. The singer dismissed the criticism, attributing it to lingering sentiments from fans of the defunct Psquare group. He emphasized his commitment to his solo career, revealing a multi-million-dollar five-year deal with an international distribution company for three albums.
“As for this solo journey? It’s one of the best things that has ever happened in my life, and I honestly don’t care what anyone thinks. Nobody can stop this movement. The train has left the station. It’s Mr P Forever! OG FOREVER drops this year, and we’re just getting started!” he declared.
Peter Okoye Clashes with Troll
Earlier, Mr P had a heated exchange with a troll who urged him to reconcile with Rudeboy. The singer shared a throwback picture of his humble beginnings without including his twin, prompting a fan to taunt him. The interaction drew attention online, further fueling the ongoing saga between the brothers.
