Nigeria's First Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Lagos

The Lyrics Hall of Fame and Museum Foundation (LHMFF) has announced the historic debut of Nigeria's first Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, as a celebration of global musical heritage. After years of planning that began in 2009, the Foundation will host the inaugural induction ceremony during the week of World Music Day on June 19, 2027, at the prestigious MUSON Centre (Shell Hall) in Lagos.

Honoring the Class of 2027

This landmark event will honor the Class of 2027, a group of iconic Nigerian music legends whose artistry, innovation, and cultural influence have shaped the soundscape of Africa and beyond. The Foundation, a non-profit organization established to celebrate pioneers and visionaries of Nigerian music, aims to inspire future generations through history, education, and innovation.

Prince Ayodeji Adedeji, Founder of the Foundation and Executive Producer of the Nigerian Music Hall of Fame “The Induction,” stated: “Our vision is to build a world-class institution—both digital and physical—that safeguards Nigeria’s musical heritage and connects it to the world. This dream was conceived in 2009, and we have remained committed to nurturing it into reality.” He emphasized the Foundation's commitment to establishing a permanent museum that will preserve the legacies of Nigeria's greatest musical icons.

A Global Standard of Excellence

The induction ceremony promises to be a world-class production, aligning with international standards comparable to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Grammy Awards. “This initiative is long overdue,” Prince Adedeji added. “From selection and profiling to judging and detailed curation, an immense amount of work has gone into ensuring that Nigeria delivers a Hall of Fame worthy of its musical greatness.”

Recognizing Contributions Across the Industry

Beyond honoring legendary performers, the event will also recognize outstanding contributors across the Nigerian music ecosystem, including emerging and established musicians, music producers, composers, record label executives, marketers, promoters, music journalists, critics, industry entrepreneurs, and philanthropists. Recipients will be awarded the prestigious Nigerian Music Hall of Fame (NMHF) Medallion of Honor for their contributions to the growth and global expansion of Nigerian music.

Global Recognition and Cultural Impact

The Foundation will also honor international artists and industry figures whose influence has helped elevate Nigerian music, particularly Afrobeats, onto the world stage. Prince Adedeji expressed appreciation to global institutions for spotlighting Nigerian talent, noting the historic recognition of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, whose legacy continues to inspire generations. “Such global recognitions have reinforced the importance of preserving our musical heritage and honoring those who built it. Induction into a Hall of Fame represents the highest honor in an artist’s career—it is the ultimate validation of legacy.”

Upcoming Press Conference

A world-class international press conference will soon be announced, where the Foundation will officially unveil the Class of 2027 inductees and provide further details about the ceremony, ticketing, and global broadcast plans.
