In a terrifying incident that has gone viral, a young singer was electrocuted by his own microphone during a live performance, collapsing in agony in front of a shocked audience.
Horror on Stage: The Electrocution Moment
The accident occurred in Peru as Carlos Suarez, the 21-year-old lead singer of the rock band Mi Mejor Amigo Scott, was preparing to perform. As he plugged in his guitar and reached for the microphone, a powerful electric shock surged through his body. The horrific moment, captured on social media, shows Suarez screaming and falling backwards onto the stage as sparks flew from the band's equipment.
According to local reports from Buenos Días Perú, Suarez appeared to be paralysed on the floor for several seconds. He then began to writhe in pain, crying out for help. In the background of the video, the panicked crowd can be heard shouting warnings about the electric current.
Quick Action and Hospitalisation
Two men, believed to be a sound technician and a member of another band, rushed onto the stage. Their quick thinking was crucial as they worked to unplug the faulty equipment and cut off the power source. The singer, who is affectionately known by his nickname Mono (Monkey), was then rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
Medical professionals treated Suarez for first-degree burns sustained during the ordeal. The burns were primarily located on his neck, caused by the hot microphone falling on him as he convulsed on the ground.
Singer's Recovery and Message to Fans
Despite what he described as a near-death experience, Carlos Suarez took to his Instagram account to reassure his worried fans. In a video message posted after the incident on December 19, 2025, he detailed the traumatic event.
"I went through a very traumatic situation and came close to losing my life," Suarez said in Spanish. "What happened could have had fatal consequences. But I am OK health wise. I have a couple of burns on my neck but no other complications thankfully."
Sporting a bandage on his neck, the singer explained that the shock paralysed him for about seven seconds. "All I could do was scream and fall to the floor, where I continued to be electrocuted," he shared. He confirmed that the burns were superficial and that he is on medication.
"I was conscious throughout and although I was in shock, I was able to get back up onto my feet afterwards," he added, expressing relief that he suffered no further physical complications.
As a result of the injuries, Suarez announced he would be taking a break from all live performances until further notice to focus on his recovery. The shocking event serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers lurking in live music equipment and the importance of rigorous safety checks before any performance.
