Kevin Spacey Says He's Homeless, Living in Hotels After Scandal
Kevin Spacey Reveals He's Homeless After Scandal

Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Spacey has made a shocking revelation about his current living situation, stating that he is effectively homeless seven years after sexual assault allegations derailed his career.

From Hollywood Star to Hotel Hopping

In a candid interview with The Telegraph published on Wednesday, November 19, the 66-year-old actor disclosed that he no longer has a permanent residence. Spacey confirmed he is living in hotels and Airbnbs while moving between work opportunities.

"I'm living in hotels, I'm living in Airbnbs, I'm going where the work is," the two-time Oscar winner explained. "I literally have no home, that's what I'm attempting to explain."

The actor's financial situation has become "not great" following the scandal that began in 2017, though he clarified it "never got to" the point of bankruptcy. Spacey emphasized that legal costs over the past seven years have been "astronomical," leaving him with "very little coming in and everything going out."

Legal Battles and Career Consequences

The sexual assault scandal first emerged in 2017 when over 30 men, including "Star Trek: Discovery" actor Anthony Rapp, accused Spacey of inappropriate behavior or sexual assault. The allegations had immediate professional consequences.

Netflix eliminated Spacey's iconic role on "House of Cards" in 2018, with his co-star Robin Wright replacing him for the final season. The streaming giant's decision marked the beginning of what Spacey describes as his "cancellation" in Hollywood.

Despite the numerous allegations against him, Spacey has maintained his innocence. In July 2023, he was found not guilty of assaulting four men in a high-profile UK trial. He was also found not liable in a 2022 lawsuit in New York.

Moving Forward Amid Ongoing Challenges

Spacey appears determined to rebuild his career and life despite the challenges. He recently performed at a resort in Limassol, Cyprus, and in May 2024, he received a lifetime achievement award at an event in Cannes, France, where he described the past several years as "challenging."

Reflecting on his current situation, Spacey noted, "In weird ways, I feel I'm back to where I first started, which is I just went where the work was." He added that all his belongings are in storage and he hopes to "decide where I want to settle down again" if circumstances continue to improve.

The actor continues to address the allegations against him, particularly with the release of the 2024 documentary "Spacey Unmasked." In May 2024, he told former UK journalist Dan Wootton that he could no longer "allow myself to be baselessly attacked" without defending himself.

"I take full responsibility for my past behavior and my actions, but I cannot and will not take responsibility or apologize to anyone who's made up stuff about me or exaggerated stories about me," Spacey stated. He specifically denied ever telling someone that "if they give me sexual favors, then I will help them out with their career."
