Renowned radio presenter and digital content creator Emmanuel Ubi, popularly known as Rugged Pastor, has officially released his first full-length feature film titled Disgrace. This significant milestone marks his expansion from radio and skit-making into the competitive world of Nollywood film production, showcasing his versatility as an entertainer and storyteller.

When asked about the message behind his content, Ubi explained that he uses his platform to portray characters that expose societal deception, particularly focusing on fake religious figures.
"I use my content to portray a character of a fake man of God who sleeps with people's wives under the guise of performing miracles," Ubi stated. "Acting is an interpretation of human character to entertain, educate, and inform society. My Daddy G.O style is a typical example of how fake pastors deceive some women who are desperate for miracles, such as how to get a child or husband."
Inspiration and Societal Relevance
Ubi revealed that his creative inspiration stems primarily from his faith and everyday societal occurrences. He referenced a biblical passage, noting, "My people perish for lack of knowledge." He views acting as a powerful tool to share knowledge that benefits society, aiming to open the eyes of the public to prevalent issues.
"A lot of women are victims of these so-called fake pastors because some believe that anything Daddy G.O says is final, forgetting that some of them are not called by God but are doing it to make money and sleep with women for free," Ubi emphasized. "When we pass this message, we open their eyes to discover that these people exist around us."
Plot and Purpose of 'Disgrace'
Speaking about his debut film, Ubi shared that Disgrace is inspired by his passion to correct societal issues. The movie centres on a fake policeman and two Lagosians who fall victim to his deceit, becoming carried away by false promises. The narrative explores themes of trust, manipulation, and realization, as the characters grapple with the consequences of their misplaced faith.
"'Disgrace' is inspired by my passion to correct societal issues," Ubi explained. "It centres on a fake policeman and two Lagosians who believe in his deceit and get carried away. He made them promises he can't fulfil. The lady later realised he was fake, but what has been done has been done."
This release underscores Rugged Pastor's commitment to leveraging entertainment as a medium for social commentary, blending humour with critical messages to engage and educate audiences across Nigeria.
