Nollywood Star Sandra Okunzuwa Reveals How Romance Scenes Ended Her Relationship
Sandra Okunzuwa: Romance Scenes Ruined My Relationship

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Sandra Okunzuwa has shared a personal story about how her former boyfriend ended their relationship after she kissed a male co-star during a movie shoot. In a candid conversation on the BTS Reality podcast, she revealed that her ex became insecure after someone sent him a clip of the onscreen kiss.

Why Onscreen Kisses Are Not Enjoyable

Okunzuwa explained that actors do not find romantic scenes pleasurable due to the filming environment. She noted that during such scenes, about 20 crew members are present, instructions are given constantly, and even the air conditioning is turned off. The director monitors and directs every move, making it impossible for actors to feel any real emotion or arousal.

“If romantic scenes could be removed and viewers would still enjoy movies, I would support that,” she stated. “These scenes affect personal relationships because partners may become jealous. I lost a relationship because someone sent my ex a clip of me kissing an actor. At the time, I saw it as insecurity, but I understand that everyone has their limits. I don’t blame people who say they can’t date actors.”

Separating Personal and Professional Life

The movie star urged the public to remember that actors portray characters on screen and are not their real selves. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a clear boundary between private life and professional work. Okunzuwa also recently discussed the physical and mental challenges faced by actresses in Nollywood, highlighting the extra pressure on women to look good, be talented, and stay focused in a competitive industry.

“For men, it seems that as long as they can act, are handsome, and have charisma, they can succeed. But acting is grueling for everyone. We leave home early and often return late at night. Despite the challenges, passion keeps us going,” she said.
