Scarlet Gomez Returns to Wura Role with Season 4 Intrigues and Expanded Broadcast
Gbemisola Scarlet Gomez, professionally known as Scarlet Gomez, has made a highly anticipated return to her explosive role as Wura, marking the launch of Season 4 with significant changes and new narrative layers. The pause and finishing touches are now complete, setting the stage for a season that delves deeper into political themes reflecting everyday realities.
New Season Introduces Vulnerable Intensity and Political Depth
Atinuke Babatunde, Executive Head of Content and Channels for West Africa at MultiChoice, announced that Season 4 will showcase lead actress Scarlet Gomez bringing a more vulnerable yet intense side to her character. The series is leaning further into themes of power, leadership, and justice, adding complexity to the adaptation of the six-season South African telenovela, The River, which still has considerable narrative ground to explore.
Babatunde made this revelation during a virtual chat with the Wura cast and crew, including Scarlet Gomez, Yomi Fash Lanso, and Musa Jeffery David. She emphasized that the decision to make Wura Season 4 available across both Africa Magic Showcase and Africa Magic Family was driven by MultiChoice's commitment to making premium content accessible on DStv and GOtv platforms.
MultiChoice Expands Access to Premium Content
"At MultiChoice, our priority is always very clear: to consistently deliver premium content across our channels with storytelling that reflects the richness of our culture and resonates with our audiences," Babatunde stated. She added that while Season 4 was initially intended exclusively for Africa Magic Showcase, the company decided to open it up to a broader audience. "We said, you know what, why not open it to everybody, because premium content should be viewed and enjoyed by everybody."
Audience Reception and Source Material Drive Continuation
Head Writer Musa Jeffery David highlighted both audience reception and the depth of the show's source material as key factors behind the continuation of Wura. This feedback has helped shape the new season's direction, ensuring it remains engaging and relevant.
Fans can catch Wura Season 4 starting from March 30, 2026, airing weeknights at 8:00 PM on Africa Magic Showcase and 8:30 PM on Africa Magic Family across all DStv and GOtv packages.
