Kola Oyewo attended Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), where he earned certificates in dramatic arts and Yoruba oral literature. He later obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Art from OAU in 1995. He proceeded to the University of Ibadan for a Master of Arts and a PhD in drama. Oyewo was famous for roles in hit movies such as Sango, Saworoide, Ola Rotimi's The Gods Are Not To Blame, and Oleku.
