Pepsodent Expands Oral Health Education, Reaches 51 Schools Across Nigeria

In a significant effort to commemorate World Oral Health Day 2026, Pepsodent, a prominent advocate for oral hygiene, has launched an extensive school activation campaign targeting Nigerian children. The initiative was conducted simultaneously in select schools across 17 states, aiming to instill healthy oral habits from an early age.

Nationwide Reach and Interactive Learning

The campaign spanned key cities including Port Harcourt, Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ibadan, Ondo Town, Awka, Enugu, Abuja, Lagos, Yenagoa, Keffi, Calabar, Uyo, and Benin City. Through interactive learning sessions and engaging activities, the brand demonstrated the critical importance of good oral hygiene to pupils, reaching a total of 51 schools nationwide. This effort reinforces Pepsodent's commitment to expanding access to oral health education and promoting preventive care practices among children.

Brand Commitment to Preventive Care

At the Lagos awareness event held at Temidire Primary School in Oke-Odo, Alimosho, Brand Manager Lauretta Amie emphasized the campaign's alignment with Pepsodent's long-standing dedication to preventive oral care, particularly for children vulnerable to poor dental habits. She highlighted that the initiative combines education with interactive experiences to help children understand the importance of correct brushing, reducing sugar intake, and regular dental check-ups.

"At Pepsodent, we understand that maintaining healthy teeth is about more than just brushing once in a while; it is about building consistent, daily habits that protect your smile and overall health," Amie stated. "That is why this year’s ‘Do The 2’ campaign is so important. We want families across Nigeria to see brushing twice a day, morning and night, not as a chore, but as a simple, achievable habit that makes a real difference."

She added that Pepsodent remains focused on collaborating with schools, parents, and communities to reinforce these habits, ensuring that knowledge from the campaigns translates into consistent practices both in classrooms and at home.

Support from Education and Health Officials

Dr. Aminat Ige, Education Secretary of the Local Government Education Authority in Alimosho Local Government, commended Pepsodent for bringing the initiative to local schools, noting that it will raise awareness among students and parents about the significance of oral hygiene habits.

Dental Surgeon Dr. Abraham Akinbami praised the initiative for encouraging behavioral change, stating, "It was heartwarming to see that Unilever, through Pepsodent, was taking the initiative to drive oral hygiene habits among young people, rather than older people, who may be more difficult to change at this time."

School Leadership Applauds Impact

Headteacher Moninuola Lawal of Temidire Primary School expressed gratitude to Unilever Nigeria Plc for the initiative, highlighting its potential to create a ripple effect by empowering children to influence household habits. "Bringing this campaign into our school has been a remarkable experience for both our pupils and staff. Oral health is often overlooked, yet it is crucial to children's well-being, affecting everything from their confidence to their ability to focus and learn," she said.

Lawal added that the interactive sessions, demonstrations, and screenings leave lasting impressions, helping families adopt better oral care habits together and ensuring children grow up with strong, healthy teeth.

Ongoing Commitment to Oral Health

This school awareness campaign is part of Pepsodent's ongoing commitment to promoting oral health in Nigeria. By expanding its reach through such initiatives, the brand continues to empower children with the knowledge and habits necessary for maintaining good oral hygiene and overall well-being, aligning with the annual celebration of World Oral Health Day on March 20, which aims to equip people with the tools for better health.
