Commander's Remarks
Commander of Naval Base Oguta, Commodore Sabo Tanko Lengaya, stated that the initiative aims to strengthen civil-military relations, promote welfare, and foster closer ties with host communities. He emphasized that security encompasses not only the absence of conflict but also good health, dignity, and well-being of citizens.
Lengaya noted that the outreach provides immediate healthcare support while promoting preventive health practices through education. “We hope these services will positively impact the health and well-being of this community. This is our small contribution to ease the burden on your health facilities and to show that we see you as family,” he said.
He stressed that the program is part of the Navy's broader civil-military relations mandate aimed at building trust and supporting grassroots development. As the Navy commemorates 70 years of service, it remains committed to supporting host communities beyond its maritime security duties.
Lengaya urged residents to utilize the services and adhere to professional advice, noting that prevention and early detection are key to good health. He commended Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, for his leadership that enabled community-focused initiatives.
