In a significant boost to healthcare services during the festive season, the Rotary Club of Ikeja has delivered a substantial donation of medical equipment and supplies to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). The philanthropic gesture, valued at millions of naira, aims to enhance patient care and honour the dedication of hospital staff.
A Festive Gesture of Hope and Healing
The handover ceremony took place on 29 December 2025, with the President of the Rotary Club of Ikeja, Olanrewaju Lawal, leading the initiative. Lawal stated that the donation was purposefully timed to bring hope and healing to patients during the Christmas period. She emphasized that this effort was more than a routine programme, reflecting the club's over four decades of sustained partnership with the renowned health institution.
"As part of our yearly routine at the Rotary Club of Ikeja, we celebrate Christmas by donating medical equipment worth millions of naira to LASUTH," Lawal explained. "These are vital tools that will equip our medical heroes to save more lives."
What Was Donated: Equipment and Staff Recognition
The comprehensive donation package includes critical items to support daily hospital operations and improve diagnostic capabilities. The list features:
- Drip stands
- Glucometers
- Diagnostic sets
- Sphygmomanometer
- Suction machine
- Defibrillator
- A patient monitor
- 100 bedsheets
Beyond the physical equipment, the Rotary Club also presented appreciation plaques to reward diligent LASUTH staff across six categories: Outstanding Doctor, Outstanding Nurse, Most Valuable Staff, Most Punctual Staff, Outstanding Junior Staff, and Outstanding Senior Staff.
Hospital Management Expresses Profound Gratitude
Receiving the valuable items on behalf of the hospital, the Chief Medical Director, Professor Adetokunbo Fabamwo, expressed deep appreciation for the donation. He described the gesture as both timely and immensely valuable, acknowledging the consistent commitment shown by the donors over many years.
"This support is not taken for granted," Prof. Fabamwo stated. He assured the Rotary Club and the public that the donated items would be properly utilised and deployed for the benefit of humanity, directly impacting patient care and outcomes at the teaching hospital.
