The Lagos State Government has directed a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death of nine-month-old identical twins, Testimony and Timothy Alozie. The infants reportedly died within 24 hours of receiving routine immunisation at a primary healthcare centre in the state.
A Father's Viral Plea for Justice
The tragic incident gained widespread public attention after the twins' father, Samuel Alozie, widely known as Promise Samuel on TikTok, posted emotional videos. The clips showed the bodies of his sons in separate body bags as he narrated the events leading to their deaths.
In a follow-up video that went viral on Thursday, January 15, Alozie detailed the sequence of events. He stated that he took the twins for their routine immunisation on the morning of December 24, 2025. According to him, the children became extremely weak immediately after the injections.
"They could not eat, they could not play, they could not even disturb as they used to. They were just weak," the grieving father recounted.
Timeline of a Tragedy
Alozie explained that a nurse at the health centre advised them to administer paracetamol if the twins' temperature rose. He and his wife followed the instruction and also bathed the children in cold water, but their condition failed to improve.
"It happened that the immunisation was conducted on the 24th of December in the morning, and on the morning of 25th December, they died," Alozie said. He emphasized that both twins died simultaneously, weakened to the point where they couldn't talk, eat, or play.
The father insisted the twins were in perfect health prior to the immunisation and had received all their previous vaccines without issue from birth. "I'm just confused. How can I lose two children, identical twins that I have suffered so much for? Just nine months, they were not sick," he lamented.
Official Response and Ongoing Investigations
Alozie raised concerns about the nurse who administered the vaccines, noting she was not the regular official who usually attended to his children. He also strongly rejected preliminary suggestions from the health centre that the deaths might have been caused by "food bacteria."
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa, confirmed the state's investigation. He expressed sympathy for the parents while stating that the specific vaccine in question had been administered to many children before and after this incident without any similar record.
"We sympathise with them and we understand the grief these parents will be going through, but we would like for the right things to be done," Dr. Mustafa told newsmen. He confirmed the bodies were deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital morgue and assured that the postmortem findings would be made public.
Despite official assurances, Samuel Alozie voiced fears that the investigation could be manipulated to protect the government health facility. He made a public appeal for legal assistance, saying, "Please, if you are a lawyer, a human rights lawyer, help me. I don't have money to fight this alone. I need justice for these children."
The case remains under investigation by both the police and the Lagos State health authorities, with the community and online followers awaiting the postmortem results for clarity on this heartbreaking event.
