Azerbaijan has officially published the list of countries eligible for its electronic visa in 2026, with only five African nations included. The Republic of Azerbaijan's official e-visa portal, the government's authoritative platform for visa applications, released the complete list without explaining why the vast majority of African countries are excluded.
Which African Countries Can Apply?
Out of 54 African nations, only five appear on the eligibility list: Algeria, Djibouti, Mauritius, Seychelles, and South Africa. Citizens of all other African countries are not listed and must explore alternative visa arrangements through Azerbaijan's diplomatic missions.
Special Visa-Free Arrangements
The portal also outlines temporary visa-free programs for select countries. Citizens of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain can enter Azerbaijan without a visa up to three times per year between February 15, 2026, and February 15, 2027, with each stay capped at 30 days. A fourth entry requires a valid visa. Similarly, citizens of Japan and South Korea benefit from a visa-free arrangement between July 1, 2026, and July 1, 2027, also allowing up to three entries per year with stays of no more than 30 days.
