Cleric Attributes Nigeria's Woes to Lack of Focused Leadership, Calls for Value Reorientation

Francis Olubambi, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Vision International Christian Ministries (VICM), has pinpointed a critical shortage of focused leaders as a major factor hindering Nigeria's advancement. Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos to mark the ministry's 25th anniversary and its upcoming transformational leadership conference in 2026, Olubambi emphasized that focused leadership is the cornerstone of national rebirth.

The Essence of Focused Leadership

Olubambi elaborated that a truly focused leader embodies essential virtues such as integrity, diligence, contentment, excellence, and respect. He argued that these qualities are indispensable for steering the nation toward sustainable development and overcoming its current challenges. Without such leadership, progress remains elusive, and societal woes persist, he noted.

Urgent Need for Value Reorientation

In his address, the VICM President stressed the necessity of value reorientation, particularly for individuals aspiring to public office. He proposed that candidates must pass a values test to be elected, ensuring they possess the moral and ethical standards required for effective governance. This measure aims to cultivate a new generation of leaders committed to the nation's welfare, Olubambi explained.
