The Presidency has officially denied rumours that the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd.), is resigning from his position. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed that the minister remains fully committed and focused on his national security mandate.

In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy emphasised Musa’s dedication to Nigeria’s overarching defence strategy, noting that positive outcomes are already visible. Onanuga wrote: “General Musa not resigning as defence minister. General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) remains fully focused on his national security mandate, deeply committed to his duties, and completely dedicated to piloting the nation’s defence strategy with results already being seen.”
Minister’s Own Denial and Threat of Legal Action
The clarification follows earlier statements from General Musa himself, who dismissed the claims as baseless and threatened legal action against those spreading the report. Addressing reporters at the Presidential Villa after briefing President Bola Tinubu on the country's security situation, the minister maintained that he had never discussed stepping down with anyone.
