Shinkafi Seeks APC Intervention Over EFCC Petition in Zamfara
Shinkafi Urges APC Action on EFCC Petition

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Dr. Abdullahi Sani Shinkafi, has called on the national leadership of the party to intervene in a petition reportedly filed against him with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Shinkafi, who is also a senatorial aspirant for the Zamfara North Senatorial District, asserted that the petitioner accused him of receiving payments for contracts that were never executed.

Shinkafi Denies Allegations

Speaking to journalists at his residence in Gusau, Shinkafi maintained that all contracts awarded to him during the administration of former Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle were fully executed. He explained that the petitioner alleged that he obtained government funds through his company during Matawalle’s tenure without carrying out any projects.

“In the petition, he claimed that I collected money from the government during the tenure of Bello Mohammed Matawalle using my company, but did not execute any project,” Shinkafi stated.

Terrorist Sponsorship Accusations

Shinkafi further alleged that the petitioner accused him of sponsoring terrorists in an attempt to tarnish the image of the former governor. He noted, “The petitioner even alleged that I was sponsoring terrorists just to tarnish the former governor’s image, but the people of the state know the role I have been playing in fighting banditry.”

Shinkafi clarified that the funds he received from the government during Matawalle’s administration were designated for the former governor’s re-election campaign and were used for that purpose. He expressed confidence that the APC leadership would investigate the matter and clear his name.
