Tinubu Gets Spiritual Backing from Islamic Scholars Ahead of 2027

The Coalition for Young Islamic Scholars in Nigeria has openly declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid in the 2027 general elections. The group's national president, Bashir Abdullahi Ismail, announced the unanimous decision on Friday, July 10, 2026, during a formal partnership ceremony with the pro-Tinubu civic platform, the City Boy Movement.

Coalition Announces Unanimous Support

Ismail confirmed that members had reached a consensus to join forces with the City Boy Movement, a group actively mobilising support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) incumbent. The coalition aims to conduct intensive community-level outreach across Nigeria.

"We'll go down to the grassroots, door to door, house to house, shop to shop, mosque to mosque, church to church to tell our people to vote for Tinubu," Ismail stated. The coalition also committed to championing peaceful political participation and issue-based engagement throughout the campaign period.

City Boy Movement Welcomes Alliance

Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, director-general of the City Boy Movement, received the delegation alongside senior members, including deputy director-general for coordination Favour Abayomi, national director for religious affairs Aminu Lawal Othman, and national director for cultural and traditional affairs Binta Muazu Mayana.

Shoga emphasised the partnership's importance, saying, "We must synergise and work together positively to achieve our goals. This alliance represents another significant step in the growing coalition of support groups and stakeholders positioning themselves ahead of what is expected to be a highly successful presidential election." He expressed confidence that President Tinubu would emerge victorious in the 2027 contest.

Growing Support Network

The endorsement adds to a growing list of civil society and support groups openly mobilising behind Tinubu ahead of what is expected to be a fiercely contested election cycle. The City Boy Movement had earlier in June 2026 launched a nationwide drive for Tinubu's re-election, positioning itself as a key vehicle for youth mobilisation under the President's "Renewed Hope" agenda.

The 2027 general elections are drawing intense early attention, widely expected to serve as a referendum on the Tinubu administration's handling of economic hardship and the country's security situation.

Previous Prophecy on 2027 Election

Earlier, Prophet David Elijah of the Glorious Mount of Possibility Church in Lagos released a prophecy suggesting that President Tinubu may not have an easy path to victory. In a YouTube video, Elijah said some allies would "disappoint" Tinubu in the 2027 elections, warning of a surprise outcome.
