Ukraine Lists Only 3 African Countries Eligible for eVisa 2026

Ukraine Announces Limited African Eligibility for 2026 eVisa

Ukraine has officially released its list of countries eligible for its electronic visa (eVisa) in 2026, with only three African nations making the cut. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Seychelles, Mauritius, and South Africa are the sole African countries whose citizens can apply for the eVisa. This leaves the vast majority of African travelers reliant on traditional embassy-based visa applications.

The eVisa programme, which was relaunched in February 2025, originally opened applications to citizens of 45 countries worldwide. The 2026 list maintains that scope, but Africa remains underrepresented with just three nations included.

Eligible African Countries and Visa Conditions

According to the Ukraine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, citizens of Seychelles, Mauritius, and South Africa can apply for the eVisa for short-term stays of up to 30 days. The visa covers a broad range of travel purposes, including tourism, business, medical treatment, cultural events, scientific activities, sports, journalism, and transit. Nationals from other African countries are not automatically barred from visiting Ukraine but must pursue a conventional visa through a Ukrainian embassy or consulate.

The application process is fully online via Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs web platform. Applicants must register, complete the form, and upload supporting documents: a recent photograph, a valid passport, health insurance with minimum coverage of 30,000 euros, proof of sufficient funds, and a document confirming the purpose of the visit. Additional documents may be required depending on the travel category.

Processing Times and Fees

Two processing options are available: standard processing takes three working days, while urgent processing is completed within one working day. The fee for a single-entry eVisa is 20 US dollars, and a double-entry eVisa costs 30 US dollars. Applicants who opt for urgent processing pay double the standard fee in either case.

The inclusion of South Africa, Seychelles, and Mauritius places them among a select group of African nations with simplified access to Ukraine. Citizens of most other African countries must continue to visit a Ukrainian embassy in person to obtain a visa.

Related Developments: Turkey's eVisa System

In related news, Legit.ng reported that Turkey's eVisa system allows eligible travelers to obtain an official entry permit entirely online without visiting a consulate or embassy. Applicants can complete the process from anywhere with internet access by submitting required details and paying via Mastercard, Visa, or UnionPay. The Turkish government has released the list of documents needed for eVisa applications for citizens of eligible countries.
