Abia APC Accuses Governor Otti of Deception Over Tinubu

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Alex Chioma Otti of playing a double game regarding President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections. President Tinubu is a chieftain of the APC, while Governor Otti is a member of the Labour Party (LP).

APC Alleges Deception

In a statement released on Friday, June 19, Uche Aguoru, the spokesperson of the APC in Abia State, claimed that Governor Otti is pretending to support the Tinubu-led federal government while secretly working against the ruling administration. The APC alleged that Otti, who aligned with Peter Obi during the 2023 elections, is trying to deceive both sides—keeping Obidients happy for his own re-election while feigning support for Tinubu to gain federal favours.

Aguoru cited Otti's absence when a Renewed Hope National Media Tour team visited Abia to inspect federal projects under Tinubu. Instead of personally receiving the team like other governors, Otti delegated aides. Aguoru stated: "He doesn’t want to be seen supporting Tinubu publicly but wants Obidients to think he’s with them."

APC Blasts Otti

The APC also criticised Otti's associates for "daily vilifying" Tinubu and his policies, questioning how Otti can guarantee Tinubu's electoral success in Abia under such circumstances. The party vowed to educate citizens on Tinubu's projects in the state, from infrastructure to federal appointments, accusing Otti of taking credit for them.

Aguoru declared: "Enough of the deception. Abians deserve to know where Otti stands."

APC Targets Comprehensive Victory

The APC further announced its intention to win all three Senate seats, eight House of Representatives seats, 24 House of Assembly vacancies, and the Government House in 2027, regardless of Otti's decisions. The party aims for a comprehensive victory in the upcoming elections.
