The Accord Party, backed by Governor Ademola Adeleke, has clinched victory in Ila Local Government Area of Osun State, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the home ground of the party's founding chairman, Chief Bisi Akande.
Accord Party's Landslide in Ila LG
Results declared by the collation officer for the local government showed that the Accord Party secured 16,211 votes in Ila LG. The APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, trailed with 12,934 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished a distant third with only 259 votes.
The outcome represents a significant setback for the APC in a region long considered a stronghold for Akande, a former Osun State governor and one of the founding figures of the party.
Akande Wins Polling Unit but Loses LGA
Despite the overall defeat, Akande personally delivered his polling unit for the APC. At Polling Unit 12, Ward 4, in the Atogbade area of Ila-Orangun, the APC polled 181 votes against 121 for the Accord Party. However, this unit-level triumph was insufficient to overturn the wider local government result.
The loss carries symbolic weight. Akande, widely regarded as a key architect of the APC, has historically wielded strong political influence in Ila.
