Adeleke Set to Win Osun Governorship, INEC Collates Final Results

Ademola Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, is poised to be declared the winner of the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday, according to final results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from all 30 local government areas. A tally by Premium Times shows Mr Adeleke secured 511,067 votes, defeating his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,811 votes, a margin of 66,256 votes.

INEC Announces Results from All 30 LGAs

The final results were announced by INEC officials at the commission's headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital, early on Sunday. While a final official tally was still being completed at the time of reporting, the aggregate figures from all 30 local government areas indicate a clear lead for Mr Adeleke. The incumbent governor also won in 19 of the state's 30 local government areas, while the APC secured victory in 11.

Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished a distant third with 17,180 votes, based on the tally of INEC results. Supporters of the candidates are awaiting the official declaration by INEC's returning officer, which is expected imminently.

Adeleke's Strongholds Deliver Wide Margins

Mr Adeleke recorded particularly wide margins in several of his strongholds. In Ede North, he polled 35,427 votes against Mr Oyebamiji's 10,283, and in Ede South, he recorded 26,188 votes against 6,219. In Osogbo, the state capital, Mr Adeleke secured 36,480 votes, while the APC candidate polled 30,474.

Significant victories for Mr Adeleke were also recorded in Ife East, with 27,201 votes against 18,600; Iwo, 27,085 against 19,660; Egbedore, 19,278 against 11,194; and Oriade, 21,343 against 14,863. These results underscore the incumbent's dominance in key areas of the state.

Oyebamiji's Wins and Next Steps

Mr Oyebamiji won in 11 local government areas, including Irewole, where he scored 29,972 votes against Mr Adeleke's 10,934. The opposition candidate also prevailed in Boripe, Atakunmosa East, Atakunmosa West, Ife South, Ilesa East, Irepodun, Isokan, Obokun, Ola-Oluwa, and Olorunda.

With the results from all 30 LGAs now announced, the focus shifts to INEC's official declaration. More details will be provided in subsequent reports as the commission finalizes the process.
