Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has emerged victorious in the Iwo Local Government Area of the Osun State governorship election, defeating his closest rival by a margin exceeding 7,000 votes. The result, announced at the LGA collation centre located at Baptist High School, Iwo, around 11:59 p.m., shows Adeleke securing 27,085 votes against the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who garnered 19,660 votes.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) secured 588 votes, while the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) polled 181 votes. The Action Democratic Party (ADP) obtained 191 votes, the Action Alliance (AA) got 130, and the African Action Congress (AAC) received 62 votes. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) recorded 74 votes, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) 26, the Accord Party (APP) 2, the Boot Party (BP) 6, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) 3, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) 4, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) 3, and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) 12.
Voter Turnout and Accreditation Figures
Iwo Local Government Area has 106,874 registered voters. On election day, 48,985 voters were accredited. The total votes cast reached 48,953, of which 48,027 were valid and 926 were rejected. The announcement in Iwo is one of 30 being made across Osun State, as results from all local government areas are collated at their respective centres before being forwarded to Osogbo, the state capital. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer at the final collation centre in Osogbo will have the final say on the overall governorship result after receiving and reviewing figures from all 30 LGAs. Before the election, residents of Iwo, one of the most populous towns in Osun State, had spoken about Adeleke's four-year tenure, pointing to road construction and rehabilitation as the most visible development recorded in the town during his time in office.
