In a significant move to bolster support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's anticipated second-term bid, a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Kwara State has officially launched the grassroots campaign structure. The event marks the beginning of organized efforts to secure victory in the 2027 general elections.

On Wednesday, January 1, 2026, Dr. Oluwatoyin Alabi inaugurated local government campaign coordinators dedicated to President Tinubu's re-election across the seven local government areas of Kwara South Senatorial District. The ceremony, which attracted a massive crowd of APC supporters from various parts of the state, was held in Igbaja, located within Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Addressing the enthusiastic audience, Alabi charged the newly appointed coordinators with the critical task of working relentlessly to ensure President Tinubu's return to office. He made a powerful political declaration, stating emphatically that "there is no vacancy in Aso Rock," a statement that was met with resounding applause and chants of the President's name from the crowd.
Strategic Plans and Political Endorsements
Describing the coordinators as the essential "arrowhead" of the campaign machinery, Alabi outlined their core mandate: to effectively mobilize supporters at the grassroots level and coordinate all campaign activities in the lead-up to the polls. He revealed that a similar exercise would soon be conducted in the Kwara Central and Kwara North Senatorial zones to ensure a comprehensive and state-wide campaign coverage.
"Charity begins at home," Alabi stated. "I have chosen to start from my constituency to lead by example, but the entire Kwara State remains my constituency." He confirmed that campaign coordinators and committees would be established in every local government area to drive the success of Tinubu's re-election, aligning with the objectives of the federal government's Renewed Hope Agenda.
During his address, Alabi commended Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his steadfast loyalty to President Tinubu. He attributed the governor's rising national influence to this unwavering support and his direct working relationship with the Presidency. Alabi further disclosed that Governor AbdulRazaq had been appointed by the Presidency to spearhead reconciliation efforts within the APC, aiming to unite all party factions ahead of the 2027 elections.
Focus on Development and Youth Empowerment
Alabi expressed strong optimism that all three senatorial districts in Kwara would reap significant benefits from the Renewed Hope Agenda, highlighting its potential to transform the state's economic and social landscape. "I am committed to supporting and implementing this agenda at the state level," he affirmed.
In response to questions from journalists, he identified tourism as a major economic driver, noting that the sector contributed approximately 3.8 per cent to Nigeria's Gross Domestic Product the previous year and is poised for further growth.
A central pillar of his address was youth empowerment through agriculture. "We are going to redirect the energy of our youths into agriculture. This will not be business as usual," Alabi declared. He announced plans to establish farm settlements in every ward and local government area to ensure young people become economically self-sufficient and relevant.
He outlined that Tinubu's agenda prioritizes food security, economic self-reliance, export capacity, and human capital development. "We will work hand-in-hand with the Federal Government to guarantee capacity development and ensure our youths are constructively engaged—for their benefit, the society, and humanity at large," he concluded.
