APC Governor Declares ADC Cannot Win 2027 Kano Elections, Labels Opposition 'Jokers'

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has made a bold declaration regarding the upcoming 2027 elections, asserting that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) cannot secure victory in the state. The governor, speaking to a large crowd of supporters at the Government House in Kano, expressed unwavering confidence in his reelection prospects under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.

Governor Champions APC Achievements and Future Promises

Governor Yusuf highlighted his administration's accomplishments over the past two to three years, emphasizing their commitment to delivering democratic dividends to Kano residents. He outlined specific areas where his government has focused efforts and promised further development if granted another mandate.

"You have, in the last two to three years, seen our efforts," Governor Yusuf stated. "If you give us another mandate, we will surely do more in terms of empowerment, infrastructural development, education, which is our centre stage policy, health, and agriculture with portable water supply across Kano."

Dismissal of Opposition Parties as Political 'Jokers'

The governor delivered particularly harsh criticism toward the ADC and other opposition parties, labeling them as political entities lacking electoral viability in Kano State. He drew a clear distinction between his political journey and that of his opponents.

"There was only one term in the NNPP, and we will go for a second term in the APC," Governor Yusuf declared. "As for the ADC that they moved to, it will never have even a single term. Kano and Nigeria are solidly behind APC, and APC is the only winning Party."

He further cautioned Kano residents against being swayed by what he described as opposition euphoria, stating: "Therefore, Nigerians and indeed Kano people should not be carried away by the euphoria of so-called ADC and other parties. ADC, NNPP, and any other parties are a part of the jokers who could not make any meaningful political gains despite their groupings."

Political Context and Recent Developments

The governor's statements come amid significant political realignments in Kano State. Recently, eight members of the House of Representatives from Kano switched allegiance from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC during a plenary session. Governor Yusuf and former Governor Umar Ganduje witnessed this official party transition at the National Assembly.

Additionally, former Kano State deputy governor and 2023 APC governorship candidate Nasiru Gawuna resigned from the party, describing his decision as voluntary and personal in a letter to the APC chairman of Gawuna Ward. While expressing gratitude to the party, Gawuna withheld details about his next political move.

These developments highlight the fluid political landscape in Kano State as parties position themselves for the 2027 elections. Governor Yusuf's confident assertions about APC dominance and his dismissal of opposition viability reflect the intense political competition expected in the coming electoral cycle.
