The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured its first polling unit victory in the Osun State governorship election, winning at PU 20, Ward 5, Railway Station, Okefia, in Osogbo Local Government Area (LGA) on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Bola Oyebamiji, the APC candidate, polled 123 votes, comfortably ahead of the Accord Party's candidate and incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, who received 62 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) trailed with just three votes at the same location.
According to The Cable, the result was made public on Saturday afternoon as figures from polling units across the state began to emerge. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is still collating results from the 30 local government areas in the state, and the final outcome will only be clear once the full collation process is completed.
Osun Election Race Intensifies
The Osun governorship contest is proving to be a competitive race, with Adeleke of the Accord Party facing a strong challenge from APC's Oyebamiji and several other candidates. The Railway Station polling unit result represents only a fraction of the overall picture, as INEC continues to gather figures from across the state.
The results from the polling unit are as follows: Accord Party (Adeleke) – 62 votes; APC (Oyebamiji) – 123 votes; ADC – 3 votes. These numbers highlight the APC's early lead in this particular unit, but the overall outcome remains uncertain as other units report in.
Earlier Results Show Adeleke Leading in Ede North
Earlier on the same day, Legit.ng reported that supporters of the Accord Party in Osun State erupted in jubilation after results from a polling unit in Ede North Local Government Area showed Governor Adeleke leading his rivals. The figures from that unit gave Adeleke more votes than Oyebamiji, who is considered the incumbent's main rival. Scenes of cheering and celebration followed as word of the result spread among those gathered.
Adeleke is seeking a second term as Osun governor in what has shaped up to be a tightly contested election. His main challengers include Oyebamiji of the APC and candidates from other parties, including the ADC, which is also making a push to unseat the incumbent. As INEC continues its collation, the race remains too close to call, with both major parties claiming victories in different polling units.
