The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2026 Osun state election, Bola Oyebamiji, has won the Obokun Local Government Area (LGA) result, defeating the incumbent governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke. The final result announced at the Obokun LGA collation centre at approximately 11:15 p.m. on August 15, 2026, showed that the APC secured 16,120 votes, while the Accord Party polled 12,023 votes, a margin of 4,097 votes.
According to Premium Times, a total of 29,147 votes were cast in the local government area, comprising 28,687 valid votes and 460 rejected ballots. The result is subject to final approval by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer at the state collation centre in Osogbo.
Other Parties' Performance in Obokun LGA
Fourteen other political parties participated in the Obokun LGA contest. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) received 205 votes, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) got 99, the Action Alliance (AA) secured 47, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) polled 42, and the African Action Congress (AAC) got 28 votes. The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) received 84 votes, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) got 11, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) secured 14, and the Action Peoples Party (APP) received two votes. The Boot Party (BP) got four votes, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) polled three, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) received one, and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) got four votes.
Result Awaits Final Collation at State Level
The Obokun LGA result is not yet final. It must be forwarded to the state-level collation centre in Osogbo, where the INEC Returning Officer will consolidate figures from all 30 local government areas before declaring the overall winner. Fifteen parties are contesting the election statewide. Early returns from polling units across Osun state have pointed to a tight race between Oyebamiji of the APC and Governor Adeleke of the Accord Party.
According to INEC, Osun state has 2,399,233 registered voters. Of these, 1,906,390 collected their Permanent Voter Cards and were eligible to vote across 332 wards in the state's 30 local government areas.
INEC Uploads 90% of Osun Election Results
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that INEC has uploaded a considerable number of polling unit results from the Osun election 2026 onto its Result Viewing Portal, known as IReV, following the close of voting in parts of the state. The IReV portal showed that by 11:41 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, INEC had published over 3,400 results out of an expected 3,763 polling unit figures, accounting for 92.53 per cent of the total results required for a full picture of the vote.
The Obokun LGA result adds to the ongoing collation process, with the final declaration of the winner expected after all 30 LGAs have been consolidated. The outcome will determine whether Oyebamiji unseats Adeleke or the incumbent secures a second term, with the state's electoral future hinging on the remaining results.
