Benue APC Anticipates Major Membership Surge and Electoral Boost
The All Progressives Congress caucus in Benue State has announced ambitious projections for party growth and electoral performance, following the integration of a key political bloc led by Senator George Akume. Lawmakers have revealed that this strategic move is expected to significantly enhance the party's presence across the state.
Akume Bloc Drives Rapid Membership Expansion
Hon. Philip Agbese, spokesperson for the Benue State APC Caucus in the National Assembly, addressed journalists in Makurdi after inspecting registration materials for the ongoing e-registration exercise. He emphasized that the inclusion of the Akume political structure has fundamentally transformed the scale and momentum of the party's membership drive.
The lawmaker stated that the Akume group alone possesses over half a million verified supporters who are prepared to join the APC through the digital registration process. According to Agbese, this bloc is fully mobilized and ready to deliver unprecedented numbers within a remarkably short timeframe.
"We are coming with serious business," Agbese declared. "The Akume group has over 500,000 dedicated members who are already verified and eager to be captured in this exercise. Within the next seven days, we will upload every one of them. That single move will increase our APC membership in Benue by at least 500,000."
Agbese contrasted the efficiency of the Akume bloc's mobilization efforts with what he described as weaker performance from other groups, claiming that rival initiatives had yielded minimal results despite weeks of activity.
Ambitious Electoral Targets for President Tinubu
Beyond party registration, the federal lawmaker outlined substantial electoral objectives for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Benue State. He directly linked the current mobilization drive to expanding the party's vote bank for future elections.
"And mark my words, we are targeting an extra 1 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next election cycle," Agbese asserted confidently.
The lawmaker called on APC members throughout Benue to cooperate fully at the local government level, emphasizing that internal unity and grassroots participation are essential for rebuilding the party's strength across the state. "This is not the time for division or lukewarm attitude," he urged, encouraging members to support the registration exercise wholeheartedly.
Strategic Political Positioning and Leadership Assessment
When questioned about Governor Hyacinth Alia's performance, Agbese adopted a cautious approach, declining to offer a direct evaluation. He explained that he preferred to conduct broader consultations before making any public statements on the matter.
"Honestly, I don't want to jump the gun and say something today only for my superiors to come out tomorrow with a completely different view," he remarked diplomatically.
Turning his attention to national leadership, Agbese praised President Tinubu's political stature and reform agenda. He expressed confidence that Benue voters recognize the president's leadership qualities and remain committed to delivering substantial electoral support in upcoming polls.
