Fayose Warns ADC: Without Peter Obi, 2027 Presidential Bid Doomed
Fayose: ADC Loses 2027 Election Without Peter Obi

Fayose Issues Stark Warning to ADC Over 2027 Presidential Ambitions

Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has issued a critical warning to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that the party risks a devastating loss in the upcoming 2027 presidential election if it does not feature former candidate Peter Obi on its ballot. Fayose delivered this assessment while also providing a nuanced evaluation of President Bola Tinubu's performance in office.

Mixed Review of Tinubu's Administration

Speaking on Sunday at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention held in Abuja, Fayose offered a balanced perspective on the current administration. He acknowledged some positive aspects but highlighted significant shortcomings when comparing the present to the past.

"I’m happy with what Asiwaju is doing. You don’t have to have 100 percent of any issue before you are said to be doing well, but when you relate our past with our present, he is not doing well," Fayose remarked. This statement underscores a cautious approval tempered by concerns over the nation's trajectory under Tinubu's leadership.

ADC's Electoral Prospects Hinge on Obi

Turning his attention to the opposition landscape, Fayose emphasized that the ADC's chances in the 2027 presidential race are heavily dependent on Peter Obi's involvement. He expressed skepticism about the party's viability without the former presidential candidate, suggesting that Obi's absence would spell doom for their ambitions.

"I told you that if Obi is not on the ballot of ADC, that is the end of ADC. It looks like now that Obi will not; Atiku Abubakar will get the ticket," he stated. This prediction indicates a potential shift in political alliances, with Atiku Abubakar possibly securing the PDP ticket, thereby altering the competitive dynamics.

Doubts Over Obi's Political Future

Fayose also cast doubts on Peter Obi's political future as the 2027 election approaches. He ruled out a return to the Labour Party, acknowledging Obi's personal qualities but questioning his presidential prospects in the current political climate.

"It’s impossible for him to go back to the Labour Party. Obi is a good guy, he’s a fantastic guy, but to become the president at this time is difficult," Fayose added. This commentary reflects the challenges Obi faces in navigating Nigeria's complex political terrain, despite his popularity and integrity.

Fayose's remarks highlight the critical role of candidate selection and party strategy in shaping the outcome of the 2027 presidential election, with Peter Obi emerging as a pivotal figure whose decisions could determine the fate of multiple political entities.
