INEC Announces Oyebanji as Winner of Ekiti Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election held on Saturday, June 20. According to the electoral body, Oyebanji secured a total of 319,224 votes, defeating his closest rival, Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 40,543 votes.

Opposition Candidates Trail Behind

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Oluwadare Bejide, finished third in the race with 12,872 votes. Other candidates failed to make significant impacts, as Oyebanji's victory margin was overwhelming.

Second Term for Oyebanji

This victory marks Oyebanji's second term in office as governor of Ekiti State. The election was largely peaceful, with INEC officials commending the conduct of the electorate and security agencies.
