Key Details About the 2027 Ogun Governorship Race

Ogun State is currently governed by the APC under Governor Dapo Abiodun, whose second term ends before the 2027 elections. Adeola, a serving senator, is widely considered one of the frontrunners in the contest. The election is scheduled for Saturday, February 16, 2027, and the complete official list of candidates is accessible on the INEC website.

PDP's Ladi Adebutu Missing from INEC Final List

Notably, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu, and his running mate are absent from the final list. Both registered members of the PDP do not appear anywhere on the list INEC published for Ogun State, according to the document reviewed by Legit.ng on Saturday, October 10.

The omission of two candidates from a single party on the official governorship list is significant, as it effectively bars them from contesting the election under the PDP platform unless the matter is resolved through a legal or administrative process. The development leaves the PDP without a candidate for the state's top office, pending any further action by the party or the candidates.
