The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started uploading polling unit results from Saturday's Osun governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV), following the close of voting across the state. As of 3:48 p.m. on August 15, 2026, the commission had published 90 results out of the expected 3,763 polling unit figures, representing 2.39 per cent of the total results needed for a complete picture of the vote.
Early Results and Local Government Activity
A review of the IReV portal by Legit.ng showed notable activity in several local government areas, with Ife North, Irepodun, and Ife East among the areas where a number of polling unit results had already appeared on the platform. The election was held across all 30 local government areas in Osun state.
The uploads came after election officials in numerous polling units completed the sorting and counting of ballots, which began once voting wrapped up in many areas before 3:30 p.m. Collation of results was reported to be underway in some local government areas as results continued to filter in.
Voter Turnout and Next Steps
Residents turned out on Saturday to choose their preferred candidates in the election INEC organised statewide. The commission's IReV portal is designed to provide real-time access to polling unit results, enhancing transparency in the electoral process.
According to Legit.ng, the link to view the uploaded results on the IReV portal is available on their website. More updates are expected as INEC continues to upload results from the remaining polling units.
