Hon. Esosa Iyawe Announces Re-election Campaign with Performance Record in Oredo

Hon. Esosa Iyawe, the Member of the House of Representatives representing Oredo Federal Constituency, has formally declared his intention to seek a second term in office under the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement was made at the APC Secretariat in Oredo over the weekend, where he presented a detailed scorecard of his legislative and constituency achievements to party members and supporters.

Commitment to Party Growth and Legislative Impact

Addressing a large crowd of faithful, Iyawe, an engineer by profession, emphasized that his decision to join the APC was motivated by a desire to strengthen the party and provide effective representation. "I came to APC to grow it, not to reduce it," he stated, underscoring his dedication to party development. He highlighted his legislative work, noting that he has sponsored and moved over a dozen motions in the House of Representatives. These motions cover critical national issues such as the revitalization of the Gele-Gele Seaport, transparency in managing the Excess Crude Account and oil revenues, and investigations into alleged irregularities at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

Key Legislative Initiatives and Bills

Iyawe further detailed additional motions focusing on tax compliance by government agencies and oil firms, conversion of forfeited assets for public use, regulation of subscription price increases by Multichoice, and concerns in the petroleum sector involving the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority. He also advocated for motions on patronage of local textile industries by uniformed agencies, enforcement of federal housing master plans, adoption of renewable energy in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and improved accountability in public asset management. Additionally, he raised a matter of urgent public importance regarding the Museum of West African Arts (MOWAA) project in Benin City.
