Kwara Clerics Lead Interfaith Prayers for Peaceful 2027 Elections and Endorse Tinubu, Bolarinwa
In response to the escalating political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osi, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, organized a significant inter-religious prayer session on Friday. The event aimed to invoke divine blessings for a peaceful and hitch-free electoral process in the state.
Religious Leaders Unite for Peace and Security
The prayers were led by prominent religious figures, including Alhaji Saadudeen Ajisefinni, the Chief Imam of Osi and chairman of the League of Imams and Ulamas in the local government, and Pastor Kenneth Adegoke, the area chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). In succession, they offered supplications not only for a smooth election but also for an end to prevalent security challenges such as banditry and other criminal activities in the region.
The clerics emphasized the importance of good governance, urging God to guide political office holders in providing effective leadership as they prepare for various positions. This spiritual gathering underscored the community's deep-seated desire for stability and progress amidst the political fervor.
Endorsements for Tinubu and Bolarinwa
During the prayers, the clerics specifically sought divine favor for the political aspirations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praying for his successful bid for a second term in office. Additionally, they offered prayers for the actualization of Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa's (BOB) ambition to become the governor of Kwara State in 2027.
This endorsement was echoed by the APC Progressive Caucus in Moro Local Government, which on Wednesday formally backed President Tinubu for re-election and expressed support for Bolarinwa's governorship campaign. The convergence of religious and political support highlights a unified front within the party's ranks in Kwara State.
Stakeholders Rally Behind Party Choices
The event in Ekiti Local Government was attended by a notable gathering, including eight past chairmen of the local council, APC stakeholders, elders, and supporters. They used the occasion to publicly endorse Bolarinwa's governorship aspirations and Tinubu's second-term ambition.
Dr. Bolaji Afolabi, the convener of the program, praised President Tinubu's leadership successes since assuming office and advocated for Bolarinwa as the most suitable candidate for governor, citing his experience and track record of political performance.
Chief Omogbenle Adeyemi, an APC stakeholder and aspirant for the House of Representatives seat for the Ekiti/Oke Ero/Isin/Irepodun federal constituency, commended Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq's administration for its impactful developmental activities. He expressed confidence that Governor AbdulRazaq would assist the party in ensuring Bolarinwa's victory in 2027, drawing parallels to how Bolarinwa previously supported AbdulRazaq's rise to power.
Hon. Yinka Dallas, a former chairman of the local government, stressed the essential role of prayers in enthroning good governance. "We have seen the way and we don't want to deviate from it. It's prayer before anything and prayer after all things," he stated, reaffirming the community's commitment to backing their endorsements with spiritual support.
Dallas called for greater commitment and dedication from political leaders, emphasizing that leadership transcends mere assumption of office and must focus on delivering impactful governance for the people.
