The deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ongoing Osun State governorship election, Kayode Adereti, has described the voter turnout as impressive, even as reports of violence and vote-buying emerged in other parts of the state.
Adereti Votes at Ilare, Commends Turnout
Adereti cast his vote at Ward 11, Unit 3, Ilare, in Ife Central Local Government Area. He said, “The turnout is impressive,” adding that voters turned out in large numbers to exercise their civic responsibility.
Speaking after voting, Adereti, who is the running mate of APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebimiji, also noted that the election has been peaceful and that “security perfect.”
Violence and Vote-Buying Disrupt Some Polling Units
However, reports of chaos and violence disrupting the voting process have been reported in some parts of the state. At a different polling unit in the local government, violence erupted over allegations of vote-buying, forcing both INEC officials and residents to flee.
Despite these incidents, Adereti commended the security arrangements and the smooth operation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines during the poll. “The BVAS is working well, and everyone is happy here,” he said.
Adereti Urges Osun Residents to Vote
He further added that voters are satisfied with how the election was conducted. “I urge the people of Osun State to come out and vote. We are ready, and the people are ready to make Osun a better place,” he said.
The election continues across the state, with voters expected to exercise their franchise peacefully. The final outcome will determine the next governor of Osun State.
